The best luxury hotels in Capri by outside recognition are J.K. Place Capri, with Three MICHELIN Keys and Forbes Five-Star, and Capri Palace Jumeirah in Anacapri, with Two Keys (MICHELIN Guide, October 2025). Searching for Capri hotels returns hundreds of listings, but only a handful carry a named award on the pages that count.

If you are comparing the best hotels in Capri, the real choice is between the Piazzetta, a cliff above the Faraglioni, the harbor and quiet Anacapri. Most of these houses are seasonal, so check opening dates with the hotel.

How We Picked

This guide uses two outside yardsticks. The first is the MICHELIN Guide’s Italy Key selection, published October 7, 2025, which lists four Capri hotels: one with Three Keys, one with Two and two with One. The second is Forbes Travel Guide’s 2026 ratings for Capri, where one hotel is Five-Star and five are Recommended.

Searches for 5 star hotels in Capri return many names, but a star count on a booking site does not tell you which ones inspectors rate highly. We take no paid placement. Room counts come from Forbes or MICHELIN.

MICHELIN Keys vs Forbes Stars

The two systems measure different things. MICHELIN Keys rate the stay on a scale of One to Three. Forbes uses Five-Star, Four-Star and Recommended, and describes Recommended as “excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.” On Capri the two lists overlap only partly: Capri Palace has more Keys than Forbes status, and Quisisana has a Forbes listing but no Key in the 2025 selection.

The Best Luxury Hotels in Capri

J.K. Place Capri

Three MICHELIN Keys (October 2025) and Forbes Five-Star (2026), the only Capri hotel at the top level on both lists. MICHELIN counts 22 rooms and describes it as one of the only hotels in Capri that is right on the ocean, with beachfront access, a pool and a spa. Forbes places it at Via Provinciale Marina Grande 225, near the harbor, and adds that most rooms face the sea. It is the pick for a small hotel with direct access to the water.

Capri Palace Jumeirah

Two MICHELIN Keys (October 2025) and Forbes Recommended (2026). Forbes counts 72 rooms, 20 of them suites, at Via Capodimonte 14 in Anacapri, and calls it a whitewashed resort. Its restaurant L’Olivo is described by Forbes as the crown jewel, and the hotel’s art collection is called The White Museum. The pool was designed by the Italian artist Velasco Vitali. Choose it for design and a quieter address on the Anacapri side of the island.

Grand Hotel Quisisana

Forbes Recommended (2026), with no Key in the 2025 selection. Forbes counts 150 rooms at Via Camerelle 2, a few steps from the Piazzetta. The hotel says it has stood there since 1845, and its restaurant La Colombaia is described on its own site as considered by many the best restaurant in Capri. Forbes lists indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and tennis. It is the pick for being in the middle of town.

Hotel Punta Tragara

Forbes Recommended (2026). Forbes counts 38 rooms and six suites at Via Tragara 57, on a cliff above the Faraglioni rocks. It says the four-story building was built in 1920 as a private home by Le Corbusier and renovated in 2022, and describes the property as a seasonal resort. There are two freshwater pools, one heated, and the restaurant Le Monzù serves seafood tasting menus. It is the choice for a view of the Faraglioni.

Capri Tiberio Palace

One MICHELIN Key (October 2025) and Forbes Recommended (2026). Forbes and MICHELIN both count 54 rooms at Via Croce 11-15, and MICHELIN puts the Piazzetta two minutes from the front door. The spa covers nearly 6,500 square feet over two floors, and the 2,700-square-foot Bellevue Suite has a heated plunge pool and bay views, per Forbes. Choose it if the spa matters.

Hotel La Palma Capri

One MICHELIN Key (October 2025), listed by MICHELIN as an Oetker Collection hotel. It is one of only four Capri hotels in the Key selection. Choose it if you want a Key hotel beyond the top two names.

Hotel Caesar Augustus

Forbes Recommended (2026). Forbes counts 49 rooms and six suites on Via G. Orlandi, built into a cliff edge 1,000 feet above the Bay of Naples, and describes it as a seasonal hotel open May through October. It lists a two-level infinity pool and a wellness center and spa. Pick it for height and the view over the bay.

What a Night Costs

Capri’s top hotels do not publish fixed nightly rates, and prices move with the season and the week. Price your own dates directly with the hotel, and ask which season rate and minimum stay apply.

Seasons: When the Hotels Open

Capri is a seasonal island. Forbes lists Hotel Caesar Augustus as open May through October and calls Punta Tragara a seasonal resort. The other hotels do not publish their opening and closing dates, so ask the hotel before you plan a shoulder-season trip.

Where to Stay: Areas

Capri Town and the Piazzetta

Quisisana is at Via Camerelle 2, a few steps from the Piazzetta, and Tiberio Palace at Via Croce 11-15 is a short stroll away, per Forbes. This is the choice if you want restaurants and shops on foot.

Tragara

Punta Tragara sits on Via Tragara above the Faraglioni. capritourism.com says the Faraglioni area has two beach clubs, La Fontelina and Da Luigi ai Faraglioni, that you reach by a path from the Belvedere di Punta Tragara, and that booking ahead is important because seating is limited.

Marina Grande

J.K. Place is at Marina Grande, near the ferry harbor. capritourism.com says the free beach at Marina Grande is near the ferry ticket offices. It is the practical base if you arrive by sea.

Anacapri

Capri Palace is at Via Capodimonte 14 in Anacapri. It is the quieter side of the island, away from the crowds of the Piazzetta.

Best for a First Visit and for Swimming

First Visit

Quisisana and Tiberio Palace put you within a short walk of the Piazzetta, per Forbes. That keeps a first trip simple.

Swimming

capritourism.com lists Marina Grande, Bagni di Tiberio, Marina Piccola and the Faraglioni beach clubs as places to swim. Marina Piccola has two public beaches, one on either side of the Siren’s rock, and it says the sun leaves the bay early in the afternoon.

Amalfi Coast or Capri?

Capri is one island with a handful of hotels at the top of the recognition lists, and the sea is the way in. The Amalfi Coast spreads across many towns. Our guide to the best luxury hotels on the Amalfi Coast covers that side, and for Rome before or after, see the best luxury hotels in Rome.

Getting There: Naples to Capri

Capri has no airport, so the route is a flight to Naples or a charter, then a boat.

Naples to Capri by Ferry

The November 2026 timetable on capritourism.com, a private island portal, lists Snav and NLG high-speed ferries from Molo Beverello in about 50 minutes, from €24.00 to €31.00. Caremar runs a fast ferry in 60 minutes from €25.30 and a standard ferry in 85 minutes from €16.50, both from Calata Porta di Massa. The page says schedules are subject to change, and that some NLG sailings change around November 9. Positano Jet and Linee Blu are among the other companies it lists.

Arriving by Private Jet: Naples

Naples International Airport (NAP) is the nearest. Its site lists four handling agents for general aviation: Alisud, Argos Vip Private Handling, Fly Service and Sky Services, and it says prior permission requests are submitted through the airport’s online system. The airport is closed from 10:30 pm to 3:30 am except for exceptional flight delays, per aeroportodinapoli.it. Forbes lists Naples as about two hours from Quisisana and Tiberio Palace. For helicopter options, see our helicopter charter cost guide, and for a boat of your own, our yacht charter cost page. Your charter provider arranges the slot and ground handling.
