The best luxury hotels in Denver by outside recognition are Four Seasons Denver, The Ritz-Carlton, Denver, The Crawford Hotel and Populus. Four Seasons is the only hotel with both a MICHELIN Key and a Forbes Four-Star, per the MICHELIN Guide’s September 2026 U.S. Keys article and Forbes Travel Guide’s 2026 Denver page.

Denver has no Five-Star hotel and no Two-Key hotel, so this ranking weighs the four One-Key hotels, the two Forbes Four-Stars and what each house offers. Luxury hotels in Denver rarely publish nightly rates, so the cost section uses only what a dated page states.

How We Picked

We used three sources: the MICHELIN Guide’s Colorado Keys guide (September 2025) and its U.S. Keys article (September 2026), the Forbes Travel Guide Denver destination page and hotel pages carrying the 2026 Star Awards banner, and the hotels’ own sites for facts such as addresses and restaurants. No Denver or Colorado hotel appears on The World’s 50 Best Hotels list (the50.com).

Forbes sends anonymous inspectors who stay at least two nights and score up to 900 criteria (Forbes Travel Guide, 2026). We take no paid placement.

Keys vs Stars: Two Different Judges

MICHELIN’s September 2026 U.S. Keys article lists four Denver hotels, all at One Key, which MICHELIN defines as “a very special stay”: Clayton Hotel & Members Club, Four Seasons Denver, Populus and The Crawford Hotel. Colorado’s only Two-Key hotel in that article is Dunton Hot Springs, in the mountains.

Forbes works differently. Its Denver page shows two Four-Star hotels, The Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons, and two hotels marked “Soon to Be Rated,” Clayton and Halcyon. That means Forbes editors have previewed them and inspectors are still assessing them. Use the Keys for design and character, and the Stars for service polish.

Anyone searching for 5 star hotels Denver should know that Forbes lists none there for 2026. For Colorado’s mountain hotels, our guide to Aspen covers Hotel Jerome, Mollie Aspen and The Little Nell, all One Key per MICHELIN.

The Best Luxury Hotels in Denver

Four Seasons Hotel Denver

One MICHELIN Key and Forbes Four-Star for 2026, the only Denver hotel with both. It has 260 rooms in a 45-story tower at 1111 14th Street, with private residences on the upper floors, per Forbes Travel Guide. MICHELIN describes clean, modern styling, local touches such as stacked stone fireplaces and thrilling views.

The third-floor spa offers Colorado-themed treatments, such as an evergreen-oil massage and a local honey wrap, and an outdoor pool and bar sit on the spa floor, per Forbes. Edge Restaurant & Bar is the fine-dining room, with a private chef’s table. Forbes also lists complimentary car service within a three-mile radius.

The Ritz-Carlton, Denver

Forbes Four-Star for 2026, with no MICHELIN Key. It stands at 1881 Curtis Street on the edge of downtown and opened in early 2008, per Forbes Travel Guide. The hotel occupies 14 floors of a 37-story tower. The Ritz-Carlton Spa covers more than 6,000 square feet, there is a 2,229 square foot gym, and Elway’s is the signature steakhouse. Rooms have five-fixture marble bathrooms and Frette linens, and a Club Level lounge comes with dedicated concierge staff.

The Crawford Hotel

One MICHELIN Key. It is inside Denver Union Station at 1701 Wynkoop Street, per the hotel’s own site, and MICHELIN calls it a boutique stay tucked inside the landmark with stylish, soothing rooms. Colorado.com notes Victorian-style rooms, some modeled on Pullman sleeper cars, and the hotel’s site lists the Pullman Guest Room and the LoDo Suite among its room types. Mercantile Dining & Provision and The Cooper Lounge are on site. It has no Forbes rating.

Populus

One MICHELIN Key. It has 265 rooms at 240 14th Street downtown and opened in 2024, per the MICHELIN Guide. The design takes its cue from Colorado’s native aspen tree and uses natural and recycled materials, local flora and work by local artists, and the elevators play birdsong. It is the newest of the Key hotels and the one with a clear environmental brief. It has no Forbes rating.

Clayton Hotel & Members Club

One MICHELIN Key, and Forbes status of Soon to Be Rated. It has 63 rooms and suites of roughly 240 to 1,440 square feet at 233 Clayton Street in Cherry Creek, per Forbes, with interiors by AvroKO. MICHELIN describes a members-club atmosphere of “casual sophistication,” a rooftop restaurant, a pool and a cocktail bar with live DJs. Forbes lists a heated rooftop pool, Alteño (a Jalisco-inspired Mexican restaurant) and a 24-hour fitness center. A daily amenity fee covers club access, including the pool, fitness center and admission to the Denver Botanic Gardens and Denver Zoo.

Halcyon, a Hotel in Cherry Creek

Forbes status of Soon to Be Rated, and no MICHELIN Key. It has 154 guest rooms and 11 suites at 245 Columbine Street in Cherry Creek North, per Forbes Travel Guide. The rooftop pool deck has a heated pool, a hot tub and private cabanas, and the dining runs from the Rare Bird rooftop bar to Quality Italian at street level. Forbes mentions no on-site spa, only a Wellness Passport for nearby studios. The design is mid-century modern.

The Oxford Hotel

The hotel’s site says it opened in 1891 and calls itself the most historic hotel in Denver. It stands at 1600 17th Street in LoDo, and its Victorian and Art Deco style is part of the appeal. The Cruise Room, a Prohibition-era cocktail bar, is on site, along with The Oxford Club & Spa. The site also says Travel + Leisure named it its “Favorite Hotel in Denver” for 2024. It holds no MICHELIN Key and no Forbes rating.

The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa

The MICHELIN Guide lists it as a selected hotel, without a Key: 243 rooms at 321 Seventeenth Street downtown (guide.michelin.com, 2026). MICHELIN points to the eight-story atrium lobby, “with its velvet red galleries and wrought iron railings,” where tea is served, plus breakfast at Ellyngton and a cigar bar. It has no Forbes rating, so it is the grand-hotel pick for history rather than a ranked one.

Hotel Clio

Hotel Clio sits at 150 Clayton Lane in Cherry Creek, per its site, with Toro Latin Kitchen & Lounge on site. It lists no MICHELIN or Forbes recognition, so it is a location pick for Cherry Creek rather than a ranked one.

Verdict: for the strongest combined record, choose Four Seasons. For a Forbes Four-Star with a larger spa, The Ritz-Carlton is the pick, and for a Key stay inside the Union Station landmark, The Crawford.

What a Night Costs

These hotels do not publish fixed nightly rates. Several hotels advertise members’ or seasonal offers, but a promotion is not the going rate, so we do not use one as a price.

Rates in Denver shift with the calendar, and ski season, major conventions and summer events move them most, so price your dates on the hotel’s own booking page. For suites around the world, see our guide to the most expensive hotels in the world.

Where to Stay: Areas

LoDo and Union Station

The Crawford is inside Union Station at 1701 Wynkoop Street and The Oxford is at 1600 17th Street, both in Lower Downtown, per MICHELIN and the hotels’ sites. This is the choice for first-time visitors who want to walk to restaurants, bars and the station itself.

Downtown

Four Seasons (1111 14th Street), Populus (240 14th Street), The Ritz-Carlton (1881 Curtis Street) and The Brown Palace (321 Seventeenth Street) are all downtown, per Forbes and MICHELIN. Forbes puts Denver International about 30 to 40 minutes from the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons. For the best hotels in Denver by recognition, this is the cluster to start with.

Cherry Creek

Clayton (233 Clayton Street), Halcyon (245 Columbine Street) and Hotel Clio (150 Clayton Lane) are all in Cherry Creek, per Forbes and the hotels’ sites. It is the shopping and dining district southeast of downtown, and Forbes puts Clayton 30 minutes to an hour from Denver International. It suits guests who want a quieter, more residential setting with rooftop pools.

Best for Design and Character

Populus is the design pick: aspen-inspired, with recycled materials and local art, per MICHELIN. The Crawford turns a working railway station into a hotel, with Pullman-style rooms. The Oxford, dating from 1891 per its site, is the history pick. Halcyon’s mid-century interiors and Clayton’s AvroKO design give Cherry Creek its own look.

Best for Spa and Service

The Ritz-Carlton Spa covers more than 6,000 square feet, per Forbes, and Four Seasons has a third-floor spa with an outdoor pool and bar. Both hold Forbes Four-Star ratings for 2026. If a longer spa stay matters more than a city address, our luxury wellness retreats guide covers destination spas. Halcyon, by contrast, lists no on-site spa.

Arriving by Private Jet: Centennial, Rocky Mountain Metro and DEN

Three airfields serve Denver, and the right one depends on where you stay, per AirNav’s FAA data. Centennial (APA) is 15 miles southeast of the city, with a 10,001 by 100 foot main runway and a control tower. AirNav lists jetCenters of Colorado, Modern Aviation and Signature Aviation (North and South) there, and an on-field customs office. Centennial is the natural field for Cherry Creek.

Rocky Mountain Metropolitan (BJC) is 9 miles northwest of Denver, with a 9,000 by 100 foot runway, and AirNav lists Signature Aviation and Sheltair as its FBOs. Denver International (DEN) is 16 miles northeast, with a 16,000 by 200 foot runway and customs landing rights. AirNav lists Signature Aviation as its FBO.

For a ski weekend, the Denver to Aspen private jet page covers the route, and our Aspen airport guide covers the other end. For the wider picture of the season, see luxury ski resorts.
