The most expensive hotels in the world are priced by their suites, and the top rate reported is $100,000 a night, quoted for both the Royal Mansion at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai and the Empathy Suite at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, per Luxe Digital (updated August 2026). A suite rate and an entry room rate are different questions, and the first is the one this page answers.

That is why published lists disagree. Rates move daily, many hotels sell their top suite only on request, and some lists mix a room rate, a suite rate and a build cost. Below we set out one rule for what counts, list ten suites with the source behind every rate, and then check how the pricey hotels do on the awards lists that rate quality instead of price.

How We Measure “Most Expensive”

A price only means something if you know what was priced. We use one rule: a figure goes in only with the publication that reported it and the date. We take no payment from any hotel on this page.

Suite vs Entry Room

A suite rate tells you the ceiling. It is the single most expensive thing a hotel sells, often a multi-bedroom penthouse with staff, and few guests ever book it. The entry room is the cheapest room the hotel sells, and it changes by date and season. This page ranks the ceiling, since that is the figure the press reports.

Published Rate vs Press Report

Almost no hotel prints its top-suite rate on its website. Palace-level suites are sold by inquiry, so the figures below are press reports, not booking-page prices. We name the outlet and date for each, and treat every number as a reported starting point, not a quote for your dates.

Why Lists Disagree

Three things split the lists. Some are years old and carry pre-2020 rates. Some quote a rate per night while others quote the minimum stay: Luxe Digital notes the Empathy Suite is sold with a two-night minimum, so the effective entry price is $200,000. And some include a submarine or a private island, which is not a hotel room in the usual sense.

The Most Expensive Hotel Suites in the World

The table runs from the top rate down. Rates are in US dollars per night as reported by Luxe Digital in its article “Suite Dreams: The Most Expensive Hotels in the World” (updated August 8, 2026). Sizes come from Love Exploring (July 4, 2025) where it lists one, and from Luxe Digital where Love Exploring does not. Luxe Digital links each entry to the hotel’s own site but names no outside source for the rates, and Love Exploring says only that prices were correct at the time of writing.

Two sizes are worth a second look. For the Royal Mansion, Luxe Digital gives 11,000 square feet and Love Exploring 12,142, so treat it as roughly 11,000 to 12,000. The Faena penthouse appears in Love Exploring at 1,450 square feet at $50,000, a figure that conflicts with Luxe Digital’s $54,000 rate and five-bedroom, two-floor description, so we show no size for it.

Luxe Digital also lists two entries below this table. The Mandarin Oriental penthouse in London is reported at $43,500 and the Lover’s Deep submarine suite in St. Lucia at about £175,000. We leave the submarine out of the ranking because it is not a hotel room, and different outlets quote it at very different figures.

How the Priciest Hotels Rank on the 2026 Award Lists

Price and quality are different measures. This table checks each hotel from the suite table against The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026, the Forbes Travel Guide 2026 Five-Star list and the MICHELIN Guide 2026 list of 155 Three Key hotels.

Gulf News reported in 2026 that Atlantis The Royal remains the only Three Key hotel in the UAE.

A Price Is Not a Rating

The overlap is small, and that is the point. Two of the ten priciest hotels, Atlantis The Royal and Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, hold all three honours; seven hold none. For a ranking built on quality, see the best hotels in the world, and for how the star system works, see Forbes Five-Star hotels.

Which City Has the Most Expensive Hotels

From the table above, New York has the most. Three of the ten suites are there: the Penthouse Suite at The Mark ($75,000), the Ty Warner Penthouse at the Four Seasons ($60,000) and the Royal Suite at The Plaza ($45,000), per Luxe Digital (August 2026). Dubai, Las Vegas, Geneva, Cannes, Miami Beach, Athens and Monte Carlo have one each.

That is a count from one outlet’s list, not an index of hotel prices by city.

Is There a 7-Star Hotel?

No official seven-star rating exists in the major systems. Forbes Travel Guide grades hotels as Five-Star, Four-Star or Recommended on its award-winners page, and MICHELIN awards Keys, one to three. The Burj Al Arab in Dubai is the hotel most often described as seven-star; Forbes lists Jumeirah Burj Al Arab at Five-Star in 2026, the top grade it gives. Read “seven-star” as a nickname, not an award. Its Royal Suite is reported at about $28,000 a night and 7,147 square feet by Love Exploring (July 2025), well below the top of the table above.

Arriving by Private Jet

The hotels at the top of the price scale are in cities with business aviation terminals, and most guests who pay these rates do not fly commercial. A few notes by city, with nothing here a quote:

  • New York: The Mark, the Four Seasons and The Plaza are all in Manhattan. Teterboro Airport in New Jersey is the usual business jet airport for the city.
  • Dubai: Atlantis The Royal is on the Palm Jumeirah. Private flights serve Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports.
  • Las Vegas: Harry Reid International handles private flights for the Strip, where the Palms sits.
  • Geneva: Geneva Airport has a dedicated business aviation terminal, a short transfer from the lake and the President Wilson.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the most expensive hotel in the whole world?
The highest nightly rate reported is $100,000, quoted for the Royal Mansion at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai and the Empathy Suite at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, per Luxe Digital (updated August 2026). Both are suites, so the answer depends on whether you mean the suite or the cheapest room.
What is the only 7-star hotel in the world?
There is none officially. Forbes Travel Guide tops out at Five-Star and MICHELIN uses Keys. The Burj Al Arab is the hotel usually called seven-star, but that is a nickname.
Which city has the most expensive hotels?
In the ten-suite table above, New York has the most, with three suites at The Mark, the Four Seasons and The Plaza, per Luxe Digital (August 2026). It is a count from one list, not a ranking of all cities.
Where is the Secret Billionaire hotel?
No named publication identifies a hotel by that name, so this page points to none. It reads as a viral nickname rather than a property.
What is the most expensive hotel room in the world?
Reported at $100,000 a night, the Royal Mansion at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai ties with the Empathy Suite in Las Vegas, per Luxe Digital (August 2026). Rates move, and most suites are sold by inquiry, so treat it as a starting point.
