The Gulfstream G550 price depends on which price you mean. New, the jet listed at $54.4 million in 2020, according to Aviation Week’s August 2021 survey, and then went out of production. Used, a G550 now asks from the low teens of millions for an early-2000s airframe to the mid-$30 millions for the final 2020 builds, per Aircraft Bluebook values published in Spring 2025.
That spread is the whole story of this jet. It is a proven large-cabin Gulfstream with a range of 6,750 nautical miles, and it is the cheapest way into the large-cabin class that still crosses oceans. Below you get the new and used price bands, the specs, what moves a used price, what it costs to run and charter, and how it stacks up against the newer Gulfstreams. Gulfstream G550 Price New and Used
Gulfstream does not publish a price list, so every number here is a reported one, attributed and dated. The G550 is also out of production, so there is no current new price to quote: only a last list price and a used market.
The Last New List Price
Aviation Week’s August 2021 “Operators Survey: Gulfstream G550 Demand” put the new list price at $54.4 million in 2020, the last year the G550 was commercially available. The same survey says production ended in July 2021 after 631 aircraft were built. AvBuyer, a listing and news site, reports that the last commercially available G550 was sold in June 2020.
You will see higher figures online, such as $62 million, but no manufacturer or trade-press source stands behind them. Treat $54.4 million as the reference point and expect any individual jet to have been completed above it.
Used Prices by Year
Used pricing moves with the build year more than with anything else. AvBuyer’s G550 price guide, updated May 2025, publishes Aircraft Bluebook pre-owned values by production year for the newest airframes, and AeroClassifieds quotes the same Spring 2025 Bluebook run for the oldest.
| Build year | Average value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2003 | $11.5 million | AeroClassifieds, quoting Aircraft Bluebook Spring 2025 |
| 2016 | $26 million | AvBuyer, Aircraft Bluebook, May 2025 |
| 2017 | $28 million | AvBuyer, Aircraft Bluebook, May 2025 |
| 2018 | $30 million | AvBuyer, Aircraft Bluebook, May 2025 |
| 2019 | $32 million | AvBuyer, Aircraft Bluebook, May 2025 |
| 2020 | $34 million | AvBuyer, Aircraft Bluebook, May 2025 |
Those are values, not sale prices. Asking prices are different again. Aviation Week’s 2021 survey, using JETNET data from the end of June 2021, counted 32 G550s for sale at an average ask of $17,242,500, in a range of $8,495,000 to $35,800,000. AvBuyer’s page, using JETNET data, listed 23 for sale in 2025 with asks from $13.5 million to $27.5 million.
Today’s Listings
Listing sites are a snapshot, not the market. AeroClassifieds showed five G550s for sale on November 6, 2026, built between 2006 and 2013 with 5,477 to 7,025 hours, and every one of them said “Call” instead of showing a price. That is typical: serious sellers do not publish asking prices.
The market is active, though. Hagerty Jet Group, reported by Aviation International News in January 2026, counted 76 pre-owned G550 sales in 2025, up from 64 in 2024 and 50 in 2023, making it the top-selling pre-owned Gulfstream again. Supply stayed “very consistent with 35 to 40 aircraft for sale at any given time,” about 6% of the fleet, and demand was strongest for 2012-and-newer models with forward-galley layouts.
Gulfstream G550 Specs
Gulfstream no longer lists the G550 as a current model, so the figures below come from trade press and a listing record drawn from the FAA type certificate. Where sources disagree, we say so.
| Spec | Gulfstream G550 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum range | 6,750 nm at Mach 0.80, eight passengers | Aviation Week, 2021 |
| Engines | Two Rolls-Royce BR710 C4-11, 15,385 lb thrust each | Aviation Week, 2021 |
| Engine time on wing | 9,000 hours or longer before a shop visit, per Rolls-Royce | Aviation Week, 2021 |
| Maximum passengers | 19 (typically 13 to 15) | Aviation Week, 2021 |
| Maximum takeoff weight | 91,000 lb | AeroClassifieds, FAA type certificate record, 2026 |
| Maximum altitude | 51,000 ft | AeroClassifieds, 2026 |
| Certified | August 14, 2003 (FAA type certificate A12EA, model GV-SP) | AeroClassifieds, 2026 |
| Cabin length | About 43.9 ft | AeroClassifieds, 2026 |
Cabin dimensions vary between sources: AeroClassifieds gives about 43.9 ft, while Paramount Business Jets gives 43.93 ft in its tables and 50 ft 1 in in its text (the longer figure appears to include the baggage compartment). Ask the seller for the manufacturer’s spec sheet for the exact serial number.
The G550 is a development of the GV, and Aviation Week says the G550’s 6,750 nm is 250 nm more than the GV’s, with BR710 C4-11 engines rated at 15,385 lb against 14,750 lb on the GV. For how it compares on reach with everything else flying, see our longest range private jets guide.
What Moves a Used G550 Price
Two G550s built in the same year can ask millions apart. The difference is usually condition and paperwork, not the badge.
Hours and Cycles
Hours and landings both wear a jet. The five AeroClassifieds listings from November 2026 ranged from 5,477 to 7,025 hours, and Aviation Week’s 2021 survey found that the average G550 was 11 years old at the time. A lower-time airframe asks more, but a jet that has flown regularly and been maintained on schedule can be a better buy than a low-time one that sat.
Engine Program
An engine program turns an unpredictable overhaul bill into a fixed hourly cost, and buyers pay more for a jet that has one that transfers. AeroClassifieds notes that all five of its November 2026 listings show an engine program, and that two cite Rolls-Royce CorporateCare, with the APU on Honeywell MSP or MSP Gold. Confirm three things in writing: that the program is current, that it transfers to you, and what it still covers.
Aviation Week’s 2021 survey adds a useful yardstick: Rolls-Royce says the BR710 can stay on wing for 9,000 hours or longer before a shop visit. The survey also tracked an “ETP ratio” (how much of the engine and airframe life remains), with the G550 average at 30.7% against 61.1% for large jets. Days on market were far longer for jets below 40% ETP than above it, which tells you how much the market rewards remaining life.
Avionics and Connectivity
Gulfstream records upgrades as Aircraft Service Changes (ASCs). AeroClassifieds says a G550 should be under ASC 11, notes ASC 08 as a reduced-weight option that cuts operating weight to 75,000 lb, and, on the 2007 aircraft it shows, lists ASC 123 (PlaneView software) and ASC 084 (enhanced navigation). Request the complete ASC list for any aircraft you are considering, and check that the avionics meet the airspace you plan to fly.
Inspections matter just as much. AeroClassifieds notes that the 2007 example it shows had its 48, 72 and 96 month inspections done in June 2024, with the next 96 month inspection due in June 2032, and that three of five listings were marked as not up to date on airframe maintenance. A pre-buy inspection by an independent shop is the standard protection.
Cost to Run and Charter
Buying is one cost. Running a jet this size is the other, and the monthly bills do not care what you paid.
Annual Ownership Budget
Liberty Jet Management’s ownership calculator (2026) puts a G550 at $1,665,068 a year for 200 flight hours and $2,588,136 for 400 hours, excluding purchase price, depreciation and cost of capital. The fixed costs are $742,000 a year: crew $345,000, crew training $104,000, hangar $102,000, insurance $48,000, management $78,000 and miscellaneous $65,000.
The variable cost is about $4,615 per flight hour on its fuel price of $7.23 a gallon, and that figure includes a $1,000-an-hour engine overhaul reserve. Liberty Jet is a management company with an interest in the answer, so read these as a planning estimate. Our full breakdown is in the cost of owning a private jet.
Charter per Hour
Most readers will charter a G550, not buy one. Paramount Business Jets, a broker, shows an average of about $14,000 an hour on its G550 page, calling it an average and not a fixed quote, and does not say what is excluded. Taxes, handling, landing fees, positioning and fuel surcharges usually sit on top, so a real quote for a trip is higher.

G550 vs Newer Gulfstreams
The G550 is the older, cheaper sibling of the current large-cabin line. The G500 and G600 replaced it in the range, and the G650 sits above them.
| Gulfstream G550 | Gulfstream G500 | Gulfstream G600 | Source | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $54.4 million (2020 list, new) | $43.5 million (initial, 2015) | $54.5 million (initial, 2015) | Aviation Week, 2021; Flying, December 2015 |
| Range | 6,750 nm at Mach 0.80 | 5,000 nm at Mach 0.85 (initial) | 6,200 nm at Mach 0.85 (initial) | Aviation Week, 2021; Flying, December 2015 |
| Living areas | Not stated by Aviation Week | Three | Up to four | Flying, December 2015 |
| Status | Out of production since July 2021 | Expected certification 2017 (as of 2015) | Expected certification 2019 (as of 2015) | Aviation Week, 2021; Flying, December 2015 |
Flying reported the G500 and G600 figures in December 2015, before either jet was certified, so they are launch targets, not today’s numbers. Gulfstream does not publish current prices, so ask before comparing. Range is also not like for like: the G550’s figure assumes Mach 0.80, while Flying’s G500 and G600 figures assume Mach 0.85.
Verdict: the G550 is the value play. Used, it asks well below the newer jets’ reported list prices and still covers 6,750 nm, but a newer airframe is the safer route if you want a current-generation aircraft. Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the range of a Gulfstream G550?
- A Gulfstream G550 can fly up to 6,750 nautical miles, according to Aviation Week's August 2021 survey. That figure assumes Mach 0.80, eight passengers and NBAA IFR reserves. Real range varies with winds, payload and routing.
- How much is it to charter a Gulfstream G550?
- A G550 costs about $14,000 an hour to charter on average, according to Paramount Business Jets' G550 page. The broker calls that an average, not a quote, and does not list exclusions. Expect taxes, fees and positioning to add to the price.
- What is the cost of a Gulfstream G500?
- Flying reported in December 2015 that Gulfstream set an initial price of $43.5 million for the G500, before it was certified. Gulfstream does not publish a current price, so a new G500 today is quoted to the buyer individually.
- How much is a used Gulfstream G550?
- Aircraft Bluebook values quoted by AvBuyer in 2025 run from about $11.5 million for a 2003 aircraft to $34 million for a 2020 one. Asking prices differ from values, and most listings show "Call" instead of a price.
- Is the Gulfstream G550 still in production?
- No. Aviation Week reported in August 2021 that production ended in July 2021 after 631 aircraft were built. Used examples remain the only way to buy one.
