Cruise suites are rarely measured the same way, which is why brochures and rankings disagree. Below we separate interior from balcony, give each figure with its source, and cover the ship-within-a-ship suites on mainstream lines separately from the entry suites on luxury ones.

How We Measured

Every size here is the line’s own number for the same ship class, split into interior and balcony wherever the line does that. Totals are our sum of the two. Sizes vary by ship even within a line: Norwegian lists the same Deluxe Owner’s Suite at 1,307 sq ft in one ship description and 1,197 sq ft on Norwegian Jade, and Celebrity gives the Royal Suite as 687 sq ft on Celebrity Beyond and 590 sq ft on Celebrity Solstice, per each line’s site. Always check the page for the specific ship.

Two other sources of confusion: some pages quote square meters, and some count the balcony inside the suite. Where a line gave meters, we converted at about 10.76 sq ft per square meter and marked the result as converted.

Regent’s June 2025 release gives 8,794 sq ft in total for the Skyview Regent Suite and 3,703 sq ft of wraparound balcony. The interior figure is our subtraction, on the assumption that the total includes the balcony. The suite sleeps up to six and sits on Seven Seas Prestige, which sails its first voyage from Barcelona on December 13, 2026, per the same release. Cruise Industry News reported the starting rate of $25,000 a night in June 2025.

Ship-Within-a-Ship Suites

NCL The Haven

Norwegian’s Haven puts suites in a private complex with a concierge and a 24-hour butler, plus private dining options beyond the main rooms, per ncl.com. Its Deluxe Owner’s Suite with large balcony is 1,307 sq ft and sleeps up to six, per Norwegian’s press release for Norwegian Escape. The Haven on Norwegian Aura lists a larger aft-facing Owner’s Suite at 2,100 sq ft, per Norwegian.

Royal Caribbean Royal Suite Class

Royal Suite Class has three tiers, Sea, Sky and Star. Sky adds access to Coastal Kitchen and The Grove sun deck, and Star adds complimentary specialty dining and drinks, per Royal Caribbean’s guide. The Royal Loft Suite is a two-story suite for six, listed at 1,482 sq ft in one Royal Caribbean guide and 1,524 sq ft on another page. The Ultimate Family Suite is listed at 1,134 sq ft for up to 11 guests, per a Royal Caribbean infographic.

Celebrity The Retreat

Celebrity says all Retreat suites come with a personal butler and exclusive access to a private restaurant and lounge. The private restaurant is Luminae, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and reserved for suite guests. On Celebrity Beyond the Iconic Suite has a private terrace and hot tub, the Penthouse is 1,378 sq ft and the Royal Suite is 687 sq ft.

MSC Yacht Club

MSC’s Yacht Club offers 24-hour butler assistance and dedicated concierge service, per msccruises.com. Royal Suite sizes range from about 36 sq m on MSC Splendida to about 62 sq m on MSC Seascape, and the Owner’s Suite on MSC Seascape is about 98 sq m with a 25 sq m balcony. Sizes vary by ship.

Best Entry Suites on Luxury Lines

An entry suite on a luxury line is smaller than a Haven or Retreat suite but includes much more in the fare.

  • Seabourn Veranda Suite: 246 to 302 sq ft inside plus a 68 to 83 sq ft veranda, per seabourn.com. All dining, premium spirits and fine wines and Wi-Fi are included.
  • Regent Deluxe Veranda Suite: 307 to 361 sq ft including balcony on Seven Seas Grandeur, per Regent’s brochure. Regent’s fare covers gratuities and unlimited shore excursions.
  • Silversea Superior Veranda Suite: a 301 sq ft interior on Silver Nova, per Silversea.
  • Explora Journeys Ocean Terrace Suite: 35 square meters (about 377 sq ft) including a 7 square meter terrace, per TTG Luxury’s 2023 first look at Explora I. All 461 suites on the ship have a terrace.

Is a Cruise Suite Worth It?

It depends on what the suite replaces. On Celebrity, a butler and the Luminae restaurant come with every Retreat suite. On a luxury line, the fare already includes drinks, dining and often gratuities, so a suite adds space rather than access. Value the extras only where the line prices them, such as Seabourn’s private car airport transfer for Owner’s Suite guests and above or Royal Caribbean’s Sea, Sky and Star tiers, and compare the fare difference to what you would spend on specialty dining, drinks and Wi-Fi.

The sky has a version of the same trade-off, and best private jets with beds shows what a sky suite looks like. For the biggest fares at sea, see the most expensive cruise, and for ships rather than suites, the most luxurious cruise ships and best luxury cruise lines. More lives in the cruises and yachts hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are cruise suites worth the money?
They are when the suite buys things you would pay for anyway: a butler, a private restaurant, drinks, priority boarding. They are less so when you mostly use the ship's public areas. Compare the fare difference to your likely extras.
What is the largest suite on a cruise ship?
The Skyview Regent Suite on Seven Seas Prestige, at 8,794 sq ft including a 3,703 sq ft balcony, per Regent's June 2025 release. Among mainstream ships, the Celebrity Iconic Suite on Celebrity Beyond is 1,892 sq ft inside plus a 689 sq ft veranda.
Do all luxury cruise suites have a butler?
No. Celebrity says all Retreat suites come with a personal butler, and Silversea names a dedicated butler in its fare, but Seabourn describes a suite host and attendant rather than a butler. Norwegian and MSC limit butlers to The Haven and the Yacht Club.
How much does the biggest cruise suite cost per night?
Regent's Skyview Regent Suite starts at $25,000 a night on an all-inclusive fare, per Cruise Industry News in June 2025. It sleeps up to six.
