Art Basel Miami Beach opens to the public on Friday, December 4, 2026 and closes on Sunday, December 6, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, and the ArtRabbit event listing showed a day ticket at $92 in November 2026. Two invitation-only VIP preview days come first, on December 2 and 3 (artbasel.com, 2026). If you are planning Art Basel Miami as a trip rather than a fair visit, the dates decide everything: hotels, flights and dinner tables fill around them.
This guide covers the dates, the ticket types, how VIP access works, the fairs that run alongside, and how to arrive.
Art Basel Miami Beach Dates
The 2026 edition runs December 4 to 6, with VIP preview days on Wednesday, December 2 (from 4pm) and Thursday, December 3 (artbasel.com, 2026). Art Basel lists public hours of Friday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm, and states that preview days are by invitation only (Art Basel, 2026).
The venue is the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139 (Art Basel, 2026). The fair fills a single floor, which Art Basel calls “unique among Art Basel’s shows for its single-floor format.” Blue-chip galleries, previously grouped together, are now spread across the floor, and the plan uses four hospitality plazas rather than five. For 2026 the layout is reconfigured, with about 12% less floor space and about 10% fewer exhibitors in the main Galleries sector than before (Art Basel, 2026).
Art Basel lists 272 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and territories. The Galleries sector has 204 exhibitors, joined by Nova (20 galleries showing new work), Positions (12 solo projects by emerging artists), Survey (16 historically focused presentations) and Zero 10 for digital art (Art Basel, 2026).
Is Art Basel Leaving Miami?
No, not before 2031. On October 15, 2026, the City of Miami Beach announced that its commission approved a 2026 to 2031 event license agreement with Art Basel U.S. Corp., with an optional extension through 2033. The city says the fair will “continue to be hosted at the Miami Beach Convention Center through 2031” (miamibeachfl.gov, Oct 2026). The release says the city manager was authorized to finalize the agreement.
Art Basel Miami Tickets
Art Basel sells tickets through its own shop, run with MCH Group. When we opened it in November 2026 it listed Buy Tickets, Redeem Voucher, Premium Passes and a Premium Discovery Pass, and stated “Currently there are no tickets available” (ticket.artbasel.com, Nov 2026). Art Basel’s visitor page links to that shop for the 2026 show and does not list prices (artbasel.com, 2026).
Until the shop opens, the figures below are what the ArtRabbit event listing showed for the 2026 edition in November 2026. They are a third-party listing, not an Art Basel price sheet; the official shop sets the price you pay.
| Ticket | Price (USD) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Day ticket | $92 | ArtRabbit listing, Nov 2026 |
| First Access ticket | $105 | ArtRabbit listing, Nov 2026 |
| Art Basel Weekend ticket | $170 | ArtRabbit listing, Nov 2026 |
| Art Basel and Design Miami combination ticket | $132 | ArtRabbit listing, Nov 2026 |
| Reduced ticket | $68 | ArtRabbit listing, Nov 2026 |
| Children’s ticket | Free | ArtRabbit listing, Nov 2026 |
Guided tours are sold separately: Art Basel runs them with ArtNexus daily during show hours, and “admission to Art Basel Miami Beach is not included in the guided tour purchase.” Groups are capped at 6 people on VIP days and 12 on public days (artbasel.com, 2026).
Which Ticket to Buy
If you want a single afternoon, the day ticket is the base. The weekend ticket costs less than two day tickets at the listed prices ($170 against $184), so it pays for itself if you plan to return. The combination ticket at $132 is the one to look at if you also want Design Miami, which runs the same week (see below).
Art Basel Miami VIP Access
The fair sets its VIP preview days at December 2 and 3, and the release is specific: preview days are by invitation only, while public days need a ticket (Art Basel, 2026). There is no public VIP ticket to buy for those two days, and Art Basel does not publish the criteria for invitations.
What the official shop does show is a tier above the standard ticket: Premium Passes and a Premium Discovery Pass appear among its categories, without prices yet (ticket.artbasel.com, Nov 2026). Ask the shop for the terms before you rely on any pass for early access. For a preview invitation, the practical route is a gallery you already buy from.
The Satellite Fairs
Miami Art Week is more than one hall. Three fairs run alongside Art Basel, with dates from their own pages or press coverage.
Design Miami
Design Miami’s site lists the 22nd edition for December 1 to 6, 2026, and says the fair “will return to its hometown in Miami Beach” (designmiami.com, 2026).
NADA Miami
NADA lists its 24th edition for December 1 to 5, 2026, at Ice Palace Studios (newartdealers.org, 2026).
Untitled Art
Untitled Art, Miami Beach is in its 15th edition, running December 2 to 6, 2026 at its oceanfront location, with a VIP and press preview on December 1. Artefuse reported 166 galleries and non-profit organizations from 36 countries and territories, 52 of them first-time exhibitors (Artefuse, 2026).
How to Plan the Week
Put the sourced dates side by side and the shape of Miami Art Week is clear. Design Miami opens December 1, as does the Untitled Art preview and NADA. Art Basel’s VIP preview days are December 2 and 3, and its public days are December 4 to 6. NADA closes on December 5, Untitled and Design Miami run through December 6.
That means a visitor with only a ticket should treat Friday to Sunday as the Art Basel window and use the days before it for the satellite fairs, which open earlier. A visitor with a preview invitation can see the main fair first and the others afterward. Either way, the week stretches from about November 30 to December 6, which is also the period shown on the official ticket shop page (ticket.artbasel.com, Nov 2026). Build your hotel dates around the whole span, not just the three public days.
Where to Stay
Book first, then buy the ticket. Hotels around a fair this size set their own minimum stays, and the properties below do not publish rates for fair week, so there is no nightly price here.
Forbes Travel Guide’s Miami page lists these Five-Star hotels: Acqualina Resort and Residences on the Beach, Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Mr. C Miami Coconut Grove, The Setai, Miami Beach, and The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort. Its Four-Star list includes Faena Hotel Miami Beach, Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove and Trump National Doral Miami (forbestravelguide.com, Nov 2026).
Forbes places Fontainebleau Miami Beach and Faena Hotel Miami Beach in Miami Beach itself, the same city as the fair, while Coconut Grove, Sunny Isles Beach and Surfside properties sit further out. Our guide to the best luxury hotels in Miami covers the areas and how to pick between them.
If a fair is the reason for the trip, the same planning logic applies to other event weekends. Our guide to Monaco Grand Prix tickets shows how the same questions play out for a race.
Flying In Privately
For private aircraft, the usual choices for Miami Beach are Opa-locka Executive (OPF), Miami Executive and Fort Lauderdale Executive, with Miami International’s general aviation facilities as another option. Book the aircraft and FBO handling as soon as your fair dates are set, since the public days fall on one weekend.
Our Opa-locka airport page covers the field, and the New York to Miami private jet guide covers the most common route. For what a charter costs, see private jet charter cost. Ask for a written quote that includes landing and handling fees, because airport charges and ground handling rise when the fields are busy.
