The best luxury hotel in the Caribbean on the awards record is Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France, the only hotel on a Caribbean island with Three MICHELIN Keys, per the MICHELIN Guide (December 2025). For Forbes Travel Guide, the 2026 Five-Star names are Sandy Lane in Barbados, Cap Juluca and the Four Seasons in Anguilla, Wymara Villas in Turks and Caicos, Mandarin Oriental in Canouan, and two hotels in Grand Cayman.
Luxury Caribbean hotels rarely publish a nightly rate on their award and press pages, so this guide ranks on the awards record, the island, the access and the season, and you price your own dates on the hotel’s booking page. It covers one or two hotels on each of eight islands, plus couples, families and how to fly in. How to Choose a Caribbean Island for Luxury
The right island depends on three things: when you travel, how you arrive and whether you want a hotel or a villa-style stay.
Season and Hurricanes
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and the peak is September 10, with most activity between mid-August and mid-October, per the NOAA National Hurricane Center. Many resorts close for part of the autumn for maintenance, and some islands are still rebuilding after recent storms: Travel Weekly UK reported in April 2026 that Petit St Vincent in the Grenadines remained closed after Hurricane Beryl, and the MICHELIN Guide lists Rosewood Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands as closed for renovations and repairs. Check the hotel’s own page for your dates, and compare its rate calendar for a peak winter week against a week in May or November.
Flight Access
Some islands take a direct jet from the US, and others need a connection. St Barts is the hard one: its runway is 2,100 feet and 60 feet wide, which limits it to small aircraft. Turks and Caicos, Anguilla and Barbados are easier. Our flying-in section below covers both commercial and private.
Villa-Style vs Resort
Villa-style stays give you a private pool and space, and cost more per room. Resorts give you service, restaurants and a kids’ club. The picks below mix both.
Best Luxury Hotels in the Caribbean by Island
Awards come from the MICHELIN Guide (2025 Keys) and Forbes Travel Guide (2026 Star Awards).
St Barts
Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France sits on Flamands Beach. The MICHELIN Guide calls it the only Three-Key hotel on a Caribbean island (December 2025). Best for: guests who want the top awards record on the island.
Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth has 66 cottages in gardens, and holds Two MICHELIN Keys, per the MICHELIN Guide (December 2025). Le Barthelemy Hotel & Spa also holds Two Keys, with 44 suites and two villas, per the same article, and is rated Four-Star by Forbes Travel Guide for 2026. Best for: a quieter stay than the harbor and beach clubs.
Turks and Caicos
Amanyara is on Northwest Point on Providenciales, inside an 18,000-acre nature reserve, and is a 25-minute drive from Providenciales International Airport (PLS), per Aman. For private flights Aman points guests to RYL Jets. It earned One MICHELIN Key in October 2025, per Visit Turks and Caicos, and is Four-Star for Forbes in 2026.
COMO Parrot Cay is a private island of about 1,000 acres, per COMO. Transfers are a 15-minute drive to Leeward Marina and a 35-minute boat ride from PLS, about 50 minutes in all. It also earned One Key in October 2025, per Visit Turks and Caicos, and is Recommended by Forbes for 2026.
Wymara Villas, Sunset Cove is Forbes Five-Star for 2026 and, per the Forbes Travel Guide winners story, the first Five-Star hotel in Turks and Caicos. Best for: guests who want a Forbes-rated stay on the main island.
Anguilla
Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel sits at Maundays Bay and has 68 rooms and 45 suites, with seven signature suites and villas of 306 to 481 square meters that sleep up to 14, per Belmond. The page puts it about 20 minutes by car from Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport and says it holds Two MICHELIN Keys. Forbes lists it Five-Star for 2026. Best for: a beach resort with both awards.
Anguilla also has Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla, Forbes Five-Star for 2026 and Two Keys per the MICHELIN Guide (December 2025), and Malliouhana, Two Keys per MICHELIN.
Barbados
Sandy Lane Hotel in St. James is Forbes Five-Star for 2026 (Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards 2026), the only Five-Star hotel in Barbados on the list. Best for: guests who want Barbados’ most decorated hotel on the Forbes record.
Cayman Islands
Grand Cayman has two Forbes Five-Star hotels for 2026: The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa (Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards 2026). Best for: guests who want a choice of two Forbes Five-Star hotels on one island.
The Grenadines
Mandarin Oriental, Canouan is Forbes Five-Star for 2026 and holds One MICHELIN Key. The MICHELIN Guide lists 40 rooms, about 45 minutes by air from Barbados and about 20 minutes from St. Lucia or Grenada, and says Canouan has a 5,900 foot runway for private aircraft, including jets. Best for: a resort you can reach by private jet.
St Lucia
Jade Mountain is above Anse Chastanet’s 600-acre estate in Soufriere. Its website says 24 sanctuaries have an expansive private infinity pool, and the MICHELIN Guide lists it with Two Keys, 24 sanctuaries and five whirlpool suites (December 2025). Forbes rates it Four-Star for 2026. Best for: couples who want a view of the Pitons from the pool. For the rest of the island, see the best luxury resorts in St Lucia.
Antigua
Jumby Bay has 40 rooms, suites and mansions on a private island with Two Keys, per MICHELIN (December 2025), and Forbes rates it Four-Star for 2026. Hermitage Bay also holds Two Keys, per the same article. Best for: a private-island stay with two Key-rated hotels to choose from.

Best for Couples
For couples, the strongest cases on the record are Jade Mountain (a private infinity pool in 24 sanctuaries), Jumby Bay (a Two-Key private island) and Cap Juluca (Five-Star and Two Keys). This guide does not rank on an adults-only policy, so check the booking page if that matters. COMO Parrot Cay describes itself as family-friendly. A Caribbean overwater stay is rare, so for water villas see overwater bungalows.
Best for Families
COMO Parrot Cay has beach houses and villas with private pools, and a kids’ programme called Play by COMO, with access to the PLAY space included in the stay, per COMO. Cap Juluca lists a Kid’s Club among its features, per Belmond, and Mandarin Oriental, Canouan lists a kids’ club, with children up to and including 11 staying free in an existing bed, per the MICHELIN Guide. For family trips beyond the Caribbean, see luxury family vacations.
Flying In: Commercial vs Private
Most islands here are reached by a scheduled flight to a main airport, then a drive or boat. Examples from the hotel pages: Amanyara is 25 minutes by road from Providenciales (PLS), COMO Parrot Cay is about 50 minutes from PLS by road and boat, and Cap Juluca is about 20 minutes by car from Anguilla’s airport.
St Barts is the exception. Its runway is 2,100 feet long and 60 feet wide and takes aircraft up to the size of a 19-seat DHC-6 Twin Otter. Private jets generally cannot land there, and pilots need special qualification for the steep approach between hills (Aviation International News, July 2022). Canouan is the opposite case, with a 5,900 foot runway that takes jets (MICHELIN Guide). Our guide to how much runway a private jet needs explains why runway length drives which jets can use an airport.
For Providenciales, Aman directs private guests to RYL Jets. To compare quotes for the whole trip, see our private jet charter guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the most luxurious island in the Caribbean?
- St Barts has the strongest MICHELIN record. It has the Caribbean's only Three-Key hotel, Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France, and St Barts hotels hold several Two-Key ratings, per the MICHELIN Guide. Luxury is partly taste, and Anguilla has two Forbes Five-Star hotels for 2026, so it is a close alternative.
- What is the best time to visit the Caribbean for luxury hotels?
- Avoid the hurricane peak if you can. NOAA says the Atlantic season runs June 1 to November 30, with a peak on September 10. Hotel rates and closing dates vary by property, so compare the rate calendar on the hotel's page for your own weeks.
- Which Caribbean resorts are best for couples?
- Jade Mountain in St Lucia gives 24 sanctuaries a private infinity pool, and Jumby Bay in Antigua is a Two-Key private island. Cap Juluca in Anguilla pairs Forbes Five-Star with Two Keys.
- Can you fly a private jet into St Barts?
- Generally no. The St Barts runway is 2,100 feet long, and Aviation International News reports that private jets generally cannot land there. Aircraft up to a 19-seat Twin Otter can. Ask a charter operator to check your aircraft and the airport's current rules before you book.
- Are luxury Caribbean resorts all inclusive?
- Most are not. The hotels in this guide price rooms and meals separately unless a package says otherwise. COMO Parrot Cay lists a full-board Island Inclusive Getaway, and our guide to luxury all-inclusive resorts covers the all-inclusive option in depth.
