Al Maktoum International (DWC), also known as Dubai World Central, sits in the Dubai South district and is the second airport for Dubai after Dubai International (DXB). For private flights it has a dedicated VIP terminal, a 4,500 metre main runway and round the clock operations, which makes it the private jet alternative to the busier airline hub. This guide covers the runways, the slot and handling rules, the FBO and what the routes from Dubai cost.
Runways
| Runway | Length | Width | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12/30 | 14,764 ft (4,500 m) | 197 ft (60 m) | OurAirports |
| 13/31 | 6,030 ft (1,838 m) | 98 ft (30 m) | OurAirports, not lit |
The main runway is long enough for any business jet and for airliner-sized VIP aircraft. For how runway length relates to aircraft size, see how much runway a private jet needs.
Slots, Handling and Customs
Jetex, which runs the FBO in the private VIP terminal, lists DWC as an airport of entry with customs, 24/7 operations, slots required and handling mandatory. In practice that means your operator books a slot and a handling agent before the flight is confirmed, which is part of the charter price. Customs and immigration are handled at the FBO, so passengers do not go through the airline terminal.
The DWC FBO
We list an FBO only where its own website shows a location here:
- Jetex, in the private VIP terminal at Al Maktoum International, Dubai South. Jetex describes its terminal as the biggest and most luxurious facility in Dubai, and lists a Rolls-Royce airside transfer, a relaxation room and a cigar lounge.
Jetex runs a separate location at Dubai International, which it lists apart from DWC. Ask your broker which airport and FBO your operator uses, because handling fees are passed on in the quote; see what it costs to land a private plane.
